• Where does the name Jos-hua Medicine Man come from? The name was given to me years ago by a stranger on the path. That stranger in fact became a good friend. Years ago, I went to meditate one day at a "power spot" on a island in south Thailand.... I had heard about this place and wanted to sit and do some meditation there. The person who was acting as the custodian of this land walked up to me and introduced himself and asked about me, specifically what I do. I started to explain in a mixture of broken Thai that I help people, teach people how to cleanse their internal organs, specifically their colon, teach them the direct correlation between a clean colon and good health, and then inspire them to maintain their new found personal standard of health. After about 15 minutes of explaining to him, he finally looked up to me and said quite bluntly- enough talk, you're a Medicine Man! Since that moment I've used the name Medicine Man.... because in fact, what I say only a medicine man can say- 'The best medicine is no medicine- fasting and colon cleansing gets the job done best.' I recognized that in 2 words he summed up what I was trying to explain in 15 minutes and started laughing. The mans name who gave me the Medicine Man name is Gong. Gong later also taught me how to play the gongo's and shared both his time and his beautiful power spot with me for a few months. He was my introduction to music. 3 years later I'm now finally learning how to play the guitar, a lifetime dream with me. I'm also known by by legal name given to me by my parents- Jos-hua. • I'd like to know more about you, where you live, how you survive, what kind of cleansing do you do on yourself, etc. Thanks. My age is 45 years. I have two degree's from university- one in Anthropology and one in Political Science. Graduated Magna Cum Lauda, Dean's Honor List. I'm in service now for many years. I go from place to place, helping people with their health and life. I don't meet anyone by accident. Even you, the reader of this is special for me. I don't believe that it is by accident that you are here, right now reading this. I live mostly in the poorer sections of the Asia- Thailand, India, Nepal. I live a very simple lifestyle, practicing the alternative health care content you find in this website. In the end, the best way to teach is to be a living example. I practice to my best efforts, what I talk about in this website. In fact, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people practice everyday so there is nothing unique in that. I have learnt how to love life, to love people, and I hope I can be a big help to all people. Reconciliation, love and an open heart are the Buddhist tenants which are governing my motivation and intent. I am a practicing Buddhist and a practicing Taoist. First and foremost I am a being, a human being, striving to consciously be mindful of the act of being. My teachers have been many- my root teacher and the living inspiration in my
life is a Tibetan Buddhist monk named Chokynima Rinpoche, the abbot of the White Monastery
at Boddhanath stupa, Katmandu Nepal. • Do you binge out sometimes? I mean on food or other past addictions. Sure I do. That's human, and expected...even from the most dedicated cleansers, and practitioners. Every now and again, my body, my emotions or my mind, either in consort or separately will drive me to go into a binge. My practice is not to deny it, nor to encourage it. As little attachment or aversion that I can muster at the moment. I watch the binge, like I watch clouds in the sky...it will pass (hopefully shortly!) just as the clouds inevitably do. Meanwhile, I feed it and watch carefully the consequences. When you do, non healthy things with awareness, you recognize the consequences quickly and take action to minimize the negative impacts. Suppression won't make for a very healing environment, will it? That's why I've
avoided developing that habit. • Have you written a book? No I haven't, and anyway, who can write better then Daniel Reid on these subject? No one that I know of... that's one of the reasons I've quoted Dan so extensively throughout this website. He gets the message across to you - clearly and concisely. My job is to guide and support you if you want to practice what you found here. Many people ask me all the time, why I don't write a book? In fact, we are writing a book, together you and I and all the other people helping or visiting this website, which is the most updated book I could keep maintaining! I haven't written a paper book yet... I guess the reason is that I just don't have the time, and I'm not looking for the glorification of the ego that comes from book writing. I do share my knowledge and experience here on the net, and best of all its free, most of it! If I ever did write a book about cleansing, it will be about multiple fasting and colon cleanses. I think that's where I have a unique contribution to make. There just aren't 25 people on the planet that have the type of accumulated experience I have with multiple colon cleanses and fasting. A few people have done 2 or 3 major cleanses on their body in a lifetime, but only a few, the very lucky few, get to do it over 40 times or more, hundreds of days, hundreds of colenema cleanses.
